The house of Alverca do Ribatejo, a town of 30,000 inhabitants located on the northern outskirts of Lisbon, was opened on September 1999. Mission consists of taking care of three parishes located within a radius of 6 km: Alverca, Sobralinho and Calhandriz. The priests of St. Charles received the task of building two new churches that can accommodate the growing population. At the time in Alverca, there was only a small church from the 1700s and a garage used as a place of worship; a shop in Sobralinho, where the parish church was destroyed during the anti-clerical movements of the twentieth century. In 2000, the foundation stones were laid for the churches that would be consecrated in 2005.
